Wet rooms in Florida

Waterproofing first. Tile that stays put.

A bathroom remodel in coastal Northeast Florida fails at the wet wall, the shower pan, and the ventilation — not at the fixture catalog. Palmetto Ledger scopes showers, tile, grout, vanities, and waterproofing as one job. Humidity and salt air are part of the house, so they are part of the scope.

Newer-home baths are often a first upgrade on a builder floor plan: a tile shower that is actually waterproofed, a vanity that is not builder-grade, a powder room that gets used. Older wet rooms more often mean opening the walls, checking what is behind the tile, and rebuilding so it survives another decade of coastal moisture.
