Bathroom Remodeling in St. Augustine, FL

A bathroom remodel in St. Augustine is usually a tub-to-shower change in an older house, or the first real tile shower in a newer one. Palmetto Ledger Co. LLC, CRC #1335031, does that work from our Ponte Vedra Beach shop. Jim Siebenaler has 30 years as a builder and remodeler.

We are not the shop for a historic-core restoration. Very old fabric downtown is a different trade, and we will say so. The baths we take are in the houses people live in: a 1970s–1990s ranch or two-story, or a newer subdivision house, including around World Golf Village, where the builder-grade bath is ready to be replaced.

The failure point is behind the tile. An older St. Augustine bath often was never waterproofed to a modern standard. A newer one can look finished and still be a thin kit. Houses nearer the Matanzas River, Davis Shores, and the island side also take salt air. Houses west of downtown take humidity and summer rain more than salt. We open the wall and plan for the house in front of us.

The general bathroom page describes the trade across Northeast Florida. The St. Augustine area page describes the city. This page is the bath itself: what we replace, what we will not pretend to restore, and how the quote works.

What to know before you call

Older bath or first real shower

A ranch bath and a newer builder-grade bath do not need the same scope. One needs the wet wall taken seriously. The other needs a shower you can actually use.

Salt near the water

River and island baths see salt air on metal and on anything that stays damp. Inland baths see humidity. The walk-through decides which one this house is.

Association, when there is one

Newer St. Augustine-area subdivisions often have an HOA. We can prepare and submit that paperwork, or you can. When the bath requires a permit, we pull it.

How the work is paid

Projects usually start around $1,000.

Payment is by check, credit card, or cash. We do not offer financing. Smaller jobs can go to the Palmetto Home Care membership, which includes handyman time on each scheduled visit.
